[ When the feed click on, Tony manages to look annoyed and impressed all at once (you know, those emotions that he manages to bring out in other people pretty much all the time). He is sitting at a desk, the communicator propped up against something, and he has a small screwdriver (the micro kind) between his teeth as he speaks.]
So just how much shit am I going to get in if I try to take this apart and merge it with my Stark Phone? Not that I really care about how much shit I get in, but-- I mean, it is shiny new alien tech and you just gave it to me, you gotta know I'm gonna try taking it apart.
[ And figuring out ways to hack it. And make it better. And--
He takes the micro screwdriver out of his mouth and flashes a sharp smile.]
Also, as far as kidnappings go, this has gotta be one of the nicer ones, so no complaints here. Though I gotta know; anywhere I can get my hands on some more tools? Maybe a spare communicator, or three, or maybe an interface with the ship's core navigational systems...
[ That last one is said with only the slightest hint of 'I'm kidding' (because he isn't kidding, he is going to look for one no matter how much he has already been told 'NO', that's just like taunting him ok).]
Oh, and where might I find alcohol? Is that a thing in this section of space? I hope it is because I really don't want to try distilling my own shit again, that was a disaster the first three times and I really don't think I have managed to get better.

Is it really a kidnapping when we've come from impossibly different places? As for tools, there are some workshops that hold many of them. [And to demonstrate that, a hammer is lifted in his hand, and in disgruntlement, tossed to the side. He hates his job]

Tony shrugs, and points the screwdriver at the screen.] Isn't the point of kidnapping to be forcibly removed from where ever you are to somewhere else? I mean, where you are coming from really shouldn't matter.
[ Technically. But that isn't important, what is important is tools, and workshops you say? He is totally perking up at that.] Why didn't they include this in the briefing! Man, robots and workshops, those are the important things in life! I'm Tony by the way, and you are?
[ Does he have more manners with robots? Maybe. ]

If it is premeditated, I would call it a kidnapping. If it just happens, is it still a kidnapping, or an incident of unknown origin?
[He picked up another tool and jabbed something on the desk, working on it with out looking, still looking at the video]
Their briefing seems to miss a few important points, or so I am told. I was given a Handyman job... [He SOUNDS insulted by it] ... so I have access to tools. There are shops. Tools are not hard to find.
[... and with less attitude now.] I am Kay-tuesso. You may call me Kay if that is easier for you to handle. Everyone else does.

You know... you have a point. I am giving you that one. That is, if the space anomalies are real and that wasn't an elaborate lie to cover up for pointed kidnappings, of course.
[ Because this is how his mind works okay. Also, there is a whole lot of something like fond amusement on his face at the derision that you seem to have for your job. It is-- comforting? Yeah, sure, that.] Hey, trade you. I got roller skating waiter. A waiter, I'm an engineer, but--
[ Whatever, at least the diner has an entertaining name.] I will have to swing by then, I have a suit that will probably need maintenance at some point.
And what do you prefer, Kay-tuesso?
[ Because that matters okay. He has had AI's named JOCOSTA okay, your designation is not a mouthful. ]

[He pauses at that though. He's given this one? You mean he wasn't arguing his valid point? Interesting. And then his own point. HMM. he lifted his own small screw driver, pointing it at the screen.]
And you can have that one. Though if this is an elaborate lie to cover up kidnappings, they do a very good job of it. Considering my crew is dead. [a pause...] And I was destroyed. They do very good work in their cover ups.
[Back to working like he never stopped.] Can you roller skate? [not, can you wait on people. No. Can you roller skate. It seemed a logical question.] I was built for security and enforcement and reprogrammed for other purposes, and here I am fixing house hold items. They take no actual thought in their pointless jobs.
[People seem very careful on wanting to know what HE wants to be called. He's not sure he cares, though...] I do not mind Kay. I am told it humanizes me a bit.

Huh, point. Sorry about that though, that-- uh, sucks. Being dead. Granted, this isn't the first time I have died and managed to not actually be dead, which is why I am suspicious about this whole thing.
[ Don't ask, okay. He has lived through the end of the universe more than once and he is just getting tired of this shit now. But at least here things seem to be less likely to end in massive amounts of bloodshed, and no one has demanded that he make shit for them, so really, all is well.
Maybe.
Cocking his head, Tony leans in and looks quite intrigued about that.] Not to my knowledge, but I am sure I will figure it out. More importantly, that make you less of a pre-programmed being with specific parameters, or an AI? Like, the potential for learning within your program, does it have to be completely overwritten, or can you do it yourself?
[ A pause.]
Uh, sorry. I-- um, I have created multiple AI's. Robotics and engineering is kind of my thing. You should meet FRIDAY. When the phone works again.

Dead and then not being dead is a talent. [If droids could shrug, this one jus--oh right, he can. He shrugged. Just an entire lift of his torso but it was still a shrug.]
[his head tilted though, hearing the man prattle on about AIs and programming.] I am a KX-series Security Droid. We are programmed to do one job and one job only. My behavioral inhibitors have been reactivated however, allowing me to... learn what I want. Yes. I suppose it can be overwritten, though I am unsure why I would want to do that. My Captain reprogrammed me when he was young. I have had some time to develop, if that is what you are referring to.
[His head actually tilted, just a bit, white photoreceptors staring at the image.] You have an AI in your phone? [Is that like Sam? Could it be put into a body? Interesting.]
no subject
I am starting to think that it might be more of a curse actually. Or maybe you're right and it's some weird as fuck talent.
[ Tony thinks its annoying at this point but, whatever, he isn't dead. Again. And now he is in space, but at least he has his suit and his AI and really it could be worse, even if he does have to be a rollerskating waiter at a diner.
As Kay talks, Tony listens. Intently. Probably more than he does when most people talk because, well, to him that is super interesting. Because the fact that you are technically programmed to do one thing, but have gone on to do others? That's pretty amazing. And kind of makes him want to know what your coding looks like, but --]
Your Captain? Is he here?
[ Because he can as questions to this captain a lot nicer than he can pick at Kay's brain. Literally.]
Yeah, she is. I have kind shut it off right now, she's in the suit. [ He gestures over his shoulder, shifting to show the red and gold armour that is standing in the corner. ] And he usually has a holographic presence, but, not here. Yet. I'm working on that.
Hence the need for tools.
no subject
Calling it a 'talent' makes you sound more intelligent. A 'curse' just sounds unlucky and unfortunate. Choose wisely.
[It is strange though, that someone is paying so much attention to what he says. A lot of people here seem to think he's interesting. Like they don't know droids. So weird.]
Yes, he is here. Cassian Andor.
[Ah, but when the suit is shown his photoreceptors appear to flicker a moment, as if he blinked. It looks like a fancy battle droid...]
Suit? She looks like a battle droid. [Oh. Okay, so he just came out and said it. Oh well.] As for tools, I am sure there are places on the ship with them in plenty. The workshop I am in appears to have a lot that I don't care to use.
no subject
While I would love for it to be a talent, and this time I really think it was my intelligence that saved me, sometimes--
[ He stops. Shakes his head. Yeah, too morbid for right now.]
Cassian, huh. I will have to look him up. I take it he is as awesome as you then? Wait, did he just reprogram you ore build you?
[ Important distinction okay.
But he forgets about all of that when Kay starts talking about the suit. The grin that lights up his face is just a bit childish. Just a bit.] Droid? That what you call robots then? And, well, she kind of is I guess. I made her for battle, but also because I could. The suit is the reason that I need tools. And probably some other things that I wouldn't be surprised I have to salvage from things....
[ He tilts his head.] Think I might be able steal some?
