[The Eluvio definitely made him nervous, bringing back memories of a different highly technological setting, but Emil had already made the decision to keep his weird skull-like head up and carry on. That was all there was to do, right? So even though he was scared, he was not only going to wear the strange clothes they gave him and try his best at his first ever real job, but he was going to... try to talk to new people.

It still felt like a real accomplishment, even if he did feel a lot safer not using the video feed. He just didn't want to scare anyone..]

Hello, everyone! My name is Emil.

[There. A perfectly normal thing to say! He could do this. He was going to ignore his anxieties and be brave like his friends.]

This is really confusing, but... as long as I'm here, I want to help! I can use magic, and I can fight with it, so if anyone needs a helping hand, like in a dangerous situation... I could do that.

[He can feel himself growing more and more self-conscious, so he hurries to wrap it up.]

Oh! And... does anyone know where I could get some gloves? Really small ones?

What kind of magic can you do?

Sorry about the gloves, though. I don't have any, but maybe they sell them somewhere here? There are a lot of stores here.

Uh, typing is a little hard, so I hope it's okay if I keep talking like this! It's okay if you don't want to, though.

But I have a lot more magic than I used to. I can use it to fight, and I can heal people a little. And I can... well, actually, I've always been able to turn people to stone. But now I can control it and I can turn people back so it's a lot less scary.

That's okay! It's what I'm used to, but I can do this too.

[ There's a small laugh about the stone part. ] Well at least you can turn people back now. I don't know how much fighting and healing will be needed, but apparently it'll come up some day. From what I've heard from the others. So that's really helpful. Probably the stone part too if there's a really bad threat.

Oh, okay! Hi! You have a really nice voice.

[It's really cool, being able to hear all these new people and talk to them without being anywhere near them. Technology sure got fancy!]

Well... if my powers aren't needed... then that's really a good thing! It means we're not in trouble.

So far we're not in any trouble. I think that can vary, though, from my conversations with others. At least for now things are good, though.

Well, if there is any trouble, I'll definitely help if I can! There's been a lot of trouble where I'm from too, so I know I can take it.

[Actually, fighting still scares him a little. But now that he's 100% built for it, he's gained some confidence.]

That's really nice of you to offer. If we all help each other out, if trouble does come up we can handle it.

Hopefully nothing comes up, though. It'd be nice if you wouldn't have to deal with more of it.

Ah, it's okay. I'm stronger than you might think!

[Not physically, so much. but at least the upshot of having a freakish new body is that it can really take a beating.]

But really... hopefully none of us have to run into any trouble.

Well... from what people are saying, most of the trouble seems to happen when you're not on the ship. So... maybe staying safe is that simple!

I heard some about the troubles the others had. It's not exactly what I expected to hear about after the introduction to being here.

But yeah. Maybe it's like when you get lost, how you're supposed to stay in one place until you're found. Maybe it's best if we stay on the ship until we can get home?

[His voice is a bit softer as he mentions it, even just in passing.

I hope you're right! This place seems like it's safe, so maybe the answer is to just... stay put, like you said.

[He laughs too, just because it is a little strange. So many new people. So many unexpected circumstances.]

Have you been here long? Did they give you a strange job too?

Not very long. I just got here actually.

And I don't know about strange. I'm an artist, which is nice. But for a greeting card company, which is actually kind of weird to find on a spaceship...

Yeah! That was almost the first thing that happened when I got here. I'm in charge of a rock garden, which I still think sounds dumb. I hope they don't think my magic can make the rocks grow or anything.
