[He pretty obviously didn't mean to turn on the video function, from the way he's just staring dully at his wristband and then jerks away from it startled when he notices the feed going.]

...fuckin', weird space technology.

[An odd, stilted voice from out of view filters up to the feed. It's pretty neat, really., it says, and Ichimatsu's sparse little eyebrows crash together and he looks down. A moment later, the feed whirls as he moves and hefts a bizarre-looking orange cat into his lap, and he folds his free hand gently over the feline's ears.]

You're gonna have to stop doing that.

[The cat's mouth moves, but he just stares blankly ahead like he has no real idea he's speaking in the first place.] You're gonna make people wanna steal you and sell you again.

[A slow, huffed sigh, and Ichimatsu frowns at the communicator.]

...so, uh. My cat can talk, do us both a favor and don't try to steal him and sell him.

I'll pull out your entrails and feed them to you.

[He chokes, and covers the cat's mouth this time.] Stop that!!

[He snorts in the back of his throat and reels away from his communicator.]

No? I mean I haven't talked much with him since I try to avoid talking to him more than is absolutely necessary on a daily basis.

[doxing]

(a little tsk, smirking.) I'll have to give him a stern talking to, then, hermano.

[Hermano? He's so confused. He's not your brother-- Then again he probably has no idea what the word means.]

A-ah, I'm Ichimatsu.

[doxing]

Ichi, doesn't that mean "one"? (taps chin.) So are you older, or younger?

[ichimyatsu]

[He grunts.]

It's written that way, but I'm the fourth-born. It doesn't really matter anyway, we're maybe a handful of minutes apart.

[doxing]

Then I guess you're really Shimatsu, then, right? (that sounds like shiatsu... man, a massage would be awesome...) That's what four means, isn't it?

(yeah, which can also mean DEATH, so, y'know... it's not all bad, man...)

[One of his eyes twitches slightly. Well, at least she didn't misinterpret his whole name as checkered, which was a common and vexing trend in his childhood.]

Ichimatsu is fine, but typically four is unlucky, yes.
