[ The recording captures the burgundy-skinned synthezoid touching his dog tags before android-like eyes rise up to meet the camera. He's hesitant at first, pressing his lips together as if unsure how to start until: ]
I am sorry for the disturbance. [ His fingers run over the cool metal ] These identification markers [ call them dog-tags! ]. Since I've been given one, does this mean I'm allowed to move through the ship without prior approval?
[ There's a hint of hope that flickers through his eyes at that question. He's not entirely certain but from what he's gathered, it seems to be the case. Still, he prefers a direct answer rather than to assume. ]

How so? [ but she uncrosses her arms to wave one hand dismissingly a moment later. ] None of us can really get far, anyway. No matter how free we are to move around here.

As you can see, I don't exactly... blend in.
[ No one has directly forbidden him to leave the Avenger's compound though he's not encouraged to leave either. Vision understands acceptance takes time. For the time being, he is content to allow humanity to come to terms with the variable he presents. Though, that doesn't seem to be the case here, which is the root of his question. His way of pushing barriers. ]

If I may, [ a tilt of his head ] how far do you want to get?

I've seen worse.
[ for a moment, her lips press together. ] All the way back to the Quad, of course.

Thank you. [ A pause. ] I think.
[ There's a pause on his end as threads of thought divide, searching through his memory banks for her meaning until - ]
A galactic quadrant?

A planetary system in the J quadrant.

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with that connotation.

[ she'd like to say that it doesn't bother her. it shouldn't: there's plenty more to space than just the j and dutch has always claimed that westerley and the quad isn't home, but - war is coming, and she wants to be there. she'd like for the place she's found friends in to matter. for people to know it exists, at least. ]
Where are you from, then?

[ He's no longer a newborn, but in instances like this, he's reminded just how old he truly is. ]
Earth. [ And after a moment he adds: ] A planet in the Alpha Quadrant.

It's.... [ his eyes shift up to look at the long expanse of space ] an adjustment, but not a bad one.

No.
[ A look. ] Should I?

[ dutch minds. she minds a lot, especially since it isn't her choice, since this is just another incident of someone or something jerking her around, pulling her strings. ]

You don't want to be here.
[ That much he can gather. ]
no subject
[ but whatever anger dutch feels isn't directed at him. ]

But I'm pissed about not getting the choice whether to be here or not. Whether to stay or to leave.
