Others have been mentioning dates of birth and so I was wondering: what do your people do in order to celebrate the day someone is born, or named, or comes into their own?

Also, how do your people celebrate the lives that have ended?

Then in your case especially, a birthday should be the celebration of your life. That you're continuing to live, and that you've survived the hardships of the world or universe(s) for another year. It's amazing. ♪

I am actually under their care. My illness is hereditary and it seems there are no advancements to change that I could die any day. I'd rather not be stuck in the medbay for every day that I'm here, so I'm doing my best to not overexert myself.

I was suffering from a myriad of injuries and was on painkillers at the time of my debriefing after arriving here however I was told that I arrived just prior to the moment of my death.

There are people here that came from a time after that. I did not mythically return from the dead.

I also recall others mentioning being from a similar point in their lives.

I see. That does make more sense.

Well, there's no use worrying about that, is there? No one knows when they might die, so your mortality is just like anyone else's. Time is strange here, but being alive in this place means you've been given extra time. It's similar to the time I've been given, even though the family doctor had said I had only days to live from the moment I was born.

Are your injuries healed?

Were you hurt during the mission?

Nothing serious. Did you participate in the Gamma missions?

Yes, but I was more of a nuisance than anything helpful. Even still, thanks to Victor and Yuuri I was able to meet the Fek and understand them a bit more because of it.

Well, at least you put forward the attempt. I'm sure they appreciate someone familiar with their culture being on board.

Yes. I can't imagine what it would be like if they had no one they felt comfortable with at all. Truthfully, even we are probably not enough. Until recently, we couldn't communicate with them at all. Only able to guess, I'm certain they were suspicious of us. I wonder if they blame us for what's happened.

They very well may. Have you spoken with them since they've arrived?

Yes, but I don't have the heart to bring up such serious topics. They don't seem to want to discuss their relationship with the other alien race, so I haven't pushed. Rather, I think it's important to make them comfortable by refusing to walk on eggshells and instead helping them to settle down.
