[video] un: k2so
[A video! Of a DROID. A dark faced droid with white photoreceptors looking at his video feed. If droids could have facial expressions, his would be confused, or annoyed, or a bit of both really.]
Handy man. I was assigned to be a handy man at a place called Nuts and Bolts. What an absurd name for a business. If they understood my capabilities they would understand they are well above “Handy Man”. I am not some simple labor droid.
[He pauses his rant, head lifting and looking back and forth, before continuing to speak again.]
This situation is abnormal. The odds that they are lying however appear to be low. The situation I recorded last was ... not good, so this could be considered a vast improvement. I am, however, unfamiliar with some of the technology here. They could have at least equipped me with some upgrades instead of this communication device.
[What a string of complaints! Oh right, this device. He looked down to it again, stared, then lifted his other hand near it.]
I am K-2SO. I am looking for those who may understand the call sign of “Rogue One” ... which is also an absurd name.
That is all. [and he would cut the feed unless someone replies to this. The odds of someone replying are high. The odds of it being someone he actually knows are about middle ground. That, to him, is being optimistic and hopeful]

It's you.
[Terrible enough? Give him a moment to warm up. She said Cassian is here and that was really all that mattered.]
[Also... she's here. And... that matters a bit as well.]
And... the others?
no subject
Bodhi, but that's all. Just the three of us. Your U-Wing is here, as well. Unharmed.
no subject
[Interesting. The odds did not favor any of them getting out of that situation in... good condition.]
The pilot. The ship. You, Cassian and I. That is more than I expected. I do not remember anything that happened after shut down.
no subject
For the best.
no subject
[He asks because he wants to know what happened. He also doesn't want to know. He ran a simulation to force himself to think Cassian would be ... fine. Was he though? He as here. That was.... enough.]

I suppose it doesn't matter what is said or not say anyhow. If it were good news you would have said as much. You are here now, however. At least say if you know the mission was complete or not.
no subject
Thanks to you.

The odds that they received the plans is high. I would call that a successful mission. [This is Kay talking here. The pessimistic droid. Maybe he is only saying it in order to be some form of comfort to Jyn and whoever was left. Maybe that was really the odds he ran. He wont ever tell either way.]
If the plans were sent however, that was thanks to everyone on the crew.
no subject
Yeah. [ it's not that she's unwilling to give them credit, she gives them all the credit. it's that she doesn't want to think about it period at all. ] We can swap jobs if y'want, but I'm not telling you what it is until you take it.
[ so. ]

None of them but Cassian. They did what had to be done.][He realizes a subject change when he hears one however, and he rolls with it.]
If they gave you something asinine like 'modeling' perhaps we should switch. I have been told I have a good figure for it. You on the other hand... well... [he glanced away, as if he can't say.]
[LOOK! Trying to lighten the mood with a sarcastic softly backhanded comment. Bless him.]
no subject
Just because you're tall, doesn't mean you're qualified to be a model, Kay.
no subject
Just because you are scrawny, doesn't mean you are anymore qualified to be a model, Jyn.

That's not what Cassian said. [KAY! He never said she was scra--oh. Well. He's not LYING. As, you know, Cassian never said it.]
[What, what a dick.]
You said the ship is here? Is that where you are currently located?
[Way to brush it off, Kay.]
no subject
I'm on Rogue One, it's here, too. In the hangar bay.
no subject
You mean the U-Wing Fighter as well as the SW-0608 are here? Interesting. I suppose fair warning is needed, as I am now headed that way.
no subject
surprising him is the same as telling. ]
Door's open.
no subject
See you soon.
[he wont mind seeing Jyn either, actually.]
no subject
she's actually inside the open shuttle, draped across three center seats with her legs dangling off the end like she's debating taking a nap while she waits. one arm dangles toward the floor, communicator caught between her fingers because she doesn't like wearing it properly. it's all about as exciting as kay's walk. ]
[action] --->
[None the less, he was pleased to see the cargo ship in the hanger bay when he got there. Technology he should be able to talk to no less. Good.]
[The door was open, she said, and it was fact. He came up it slowly, almost looking around as if he hoped everyone was really there. Instead he found Jyn dangled over several seats as if she were about to nap.]
I've kept you waiting. Oh my. [Flat. No sincere tone at all about it.]
no subject
And if I'd been waiting with bated breath you'd think I was ill.
no subject
[A bit of a lie, really.] You are right however. I would have thought something was wrong.
Jyn Erso. My photoreceptors do not deceive me. [He might actually sound relieved to actually see her.]
no subject
she is still shorter than him, but now she won't break her neck looking at him. ]
You missed me. You like me. [ and no one is here to witness it. naturally. ]
no subject
[But her comment of him missing her. LIKING her. He makes a scoffing sound, head drawing up and glancing back the way he came, almost as if making sure no one was there.] Hardly.
[It's a lie. Well, some what of a lie.] You haven't been gone long enough to miss. [He looked back at her, head leveling again and voice ... softening a bit. His words spoken carefully, as if it explains that yes, he likes her.] You... gave me a blaster.
