[ Yet another new face to greet the network, and likely not for the first time, it's the face of someone who's clearly bent over backwards to try and figure out where he is and how he got here. To no avail, evidently. He's stranded, pretty much, he's managed to figure that much out.

But that's not even what's the most puzzling about all this. You see, traveling across the galaxy has made him more prone to accept that he can get snatched up, either on purpose or by accident, or even that he might trip over some dimension-breaking wormhole and end up in an alternate reality.

At least this one doesn't have another version of him (so far), so there's that.

But anyway. Onto trying to figure some things out, at least. ]

This is Captain James T. Kirk, of the USS Enterprise. I understand that likely means nothing to most of you, if not everyone, but I'll make it quick: the Enterprise is the flagship of the United Federation of Planets, operated by Starfleet, from the 23rd century, year 2263.

[ He'll skip on explaining the Federation or Starfleet for now. If anyone asks then he'll get into more detail. More pressing matters, though. ]

My ship is here, but my crew is not. Not unless I'm missing something, and if anyone can tell me where should I go to look for them, then I'd appreciate it. I... welcome the help of the Eluvio crew being on board to help me run my ship, [ No he doesn't. ] but I'd much rather have my crew, as you can likely imagine.

[ He sighs quietly, a show of frustration more than anything else. ]

On an unrelated note, would anyone mind taking a couple of hours to explain to me how currency works? I'm not... used to handling it. I'm crap at it too, if we're being completely honest. [ Seriously, does he really have to have a job? Ugh. ]

Other than that... well, I guess we're all stuck here, so I'd like to get to know everyone to some degree. So hit me up and let's chat sometime.

[ There, harmless and vague enough. And with a friendly smile, he leans in to end the feed. ]

Where you come from doesn't have currency?

You're not the first one to arrive with a ship and no crew, Captain Kirk.

Depends on the planet. The galaxy's a big place after all, but there's no currency in place within Federation planets. We have no need for it.

Yeah, someone else mentioned having their ship here. Is your ship here, too?

Oh, wow. I don't think I've been on a planet yet that didn't use some form of currency or barter system. What happens to unique artisan goods in your Federation, if you don't mind my asking?

It is. So is my friend's ship.

[winscenario]

Trade, or gifts. Possessions just aren't viewed in the same way, having and owning something isn't something people focus on as much anymore. We still have artists and artisans, they just don't create things for the sake of making money.

That's a lot of ships being brought here already. How big are yours, what's their capacity? Are they armed, or... [ He's just considering all options here. ]

[ouzel]

I see. [ That's actually really interesting; he wonders if things will ever be like that in his corner of the galaxy. ]

The U-Wing is armed, the Rogue One is a transport ship; both can take either a solo pilot or pilot and navigator.

[winscenario]

So, they're not too big. [ Jim nods. Reminds him more of the shuttles on his own ship than anything else. ]

Mine's a little larger than that. It can take a crew of hundreds. She actually needs a fairly sizeable number of people in order to run at minimum capacity; just one or two people wouldn't be able to keep it running safely for long.

[ouzel]

No, not at all. [ There are larger ships in the Resistance, for certain, but that's neither here nor there. ]

Roughly how many is 'fairly sizeable'? Is the size of your ship common for your Federation or does that have more to do with it being a Starship?

I've actually never had to command it with reduced capacity, but probably something around thirty or forty. We'd need officers on the bridge and a few down at engineering too, not to mention other minor systems that may seem unimportant but are just as vital to keep her running smoothly.

She's a large ship. Some in my world of similar size or even bigger have been designed to run with a crew number as small as one, but none of those are currently commissioned. And yeah, she's the average size of Federation exploratory ships.

[ouzel]

I can understand why you're not happy about it. [ Thirty to forty strangers on his ship? Cassian would lose it. He's just glad they've got Rogue One and he doesn't have to worry about it. ]

Ah, an explorer! That's good.

[winscenario]

Right, well... at least they haven't accidentally triggered the self-destruct or overloaded the warp core, so there's that. [ Silver linings or whatever. He's still not happy but at least he's got his ship. ]

Guess that depends on what sort of situation we landed ourselves in. Although I can hold my own in a confrontation, I would rather not have to. [ And he's kind of worried he might be forced into that sooner or later. ]
