[ The crew jumpsuit they gave him is tight with bright purple stripes running the length of it, when he's used to baggy plain grey. Wearing it he feels more like a podracer superstar than a former Imperial cargo pilot, which in turn makes him both slightly more confident and slightly more nervous, his body language all crossed legs and fidgeting. His dark eyes dart, nervous. ]
Listen. Listen. Hello, yes, listen, I need help.
[ He sounds a little urgent about it, voice dropped low. ]
Um, I've followed the instructions, and turned up to work, and I want to work, I do. It's the least I could do, I think.
[ He feels grateful enough to even be here that he's fallen immediately back into the old routine of following orders, and after the initial introduction and orientation was over his orders were to report for his first shift at the electronics store. So he's done that before even going to see if the directions to his ship held true. Before even seeing Cassian and Jyn. And that has... well, proven to be a mistake. ]
I've worked out how to send a message — assuming anyone actually sees this — but I don't really know how to fix them. Does anybody have any tips about using the technology here? It's just a little, um, different from what I'm used to. Okay. Thank you.
[ He seems a little sheepish about having to ask at all, grimacing to himself as he ends the transmission and signs off. ]

[ He is wholly incapable of considering himself as 'brave', so he gets a bit squirmy. He's not a blusher, but there's a stuttery aspect of embarrassment about him suddenly, nervousness squared. ]
I suppose!! I mean, I suppose it's difficult. I didn't really do all that much, and it was really only because it was the right thing to do, and after they blew up Jedha it's not like I had anything to go home to, you know. And then I — I think I would have died there if I hadn't come here, and if I think about that, well. I don't feel very brave at all.

she watches bodhi carefully, like she isn't sure how to continue. the reminder of her own home's destruction leaves her uncharacteristically quiet. still, more than anything else. ]
I might understand — with Alderaan gone. [ then, softer. ] We have hope, which is quite a brave thing.
[ that's less overwhelming, isn't it? a concept instead of a compliment. ]

Someone I know told me revolutions are built on hope.
[ Stealing Cassian's words via Jyn. He wants to linger in that good feeling of connection but he can't help it, her turn of phrase there, the solemnity in her eyes, it keeps niggling at him. He doesn't want to ask the question because he think he knows the answer and it's going to hurt, but he also can't just sit with denial. ]
Um, when you say Alderaan is gone...

her tone shifts, more even and businesslike to convey the events properly. and appear strong in the face of recalling them. still, she can't stop her eyes from glistening. ]
It was destroyed in the greatest act of violence the galaxy has ever known — by the Death Star at the height of its power.
[ bodhi must be behind she and luke in the timeline. with lando ahead of them all. ]
All that remains is the Alderaanians who were elsewhere at the time of the attack and a few asteroids of the Alderaanian system, abandoned as the Galactic Empire hunts for survivors.

[ Oh my god, the devastation that causes him is immediately visible, his face blanching and his eyes wide and wet. ]
No! They were supposed to stop it — Galen built in a flaw. The plans...
[ But maybe they never got the plans out to the rebels. He has no way of knowing. But the thought of a whole planet destroyed makes him feel like maybe they all foughtfor nothing. ]

Listen! [ ah. too harsh. try again. ] They did. Stop it, I mean. The plans went to me and then to the rebellion. They — the Rebel Alliance destroyed the Death Star. We did it.
[ and, suddenly, she feels awfully unqualified, reassuring someone she can only assume is dead. ]
