regarding the recent announcement and what i heard two days ago i think it is possible that we will be seeing conflict in the near future as i suspect some form of rescue is taking place

as some of us who have been drawn in by this ship's systems malfunction seem to be civilians if anyone is interested in combat training please see myself or marco for basic instruction

alternatively if anyone else experienced is willing to tutor it would be appreciated as i am unaccustomed to fighting when humanoid and am unsure if i would be able to teach constructively

Okay, can I ask why you believe it's a rescue effort, and what you're imagining as far as fighting?

what i heard sounded similar to a distress call as for fighting there is no way to know and therefore it is better to be prepared for anything

I don't know that a short period of intensive training with people unused to any kind of combat is helpful so much as teaching them how to keep out of the way and safe, if what you suspect this was proves true.

That was the ship's captain making the announcement earlier, wasn't it? Has anyone been able to contact him or his subordinates for clarification? The shop keeps seem relaxed enough with this business.

( as in not breaking out the plasma guns or whatever else is actually real in this space-society he's been shoved into alongside the rest of the newest arrivals. )

that is likely what we will be focusing on as neither of us has much experience in combat while human how to act defensively is also part of combat training

then they will be able to stay out of the way while those of us who can fight do so

In that case, it's worth changing how you frame things. Combat tends to sound like you're expecting to show people how to fight instead of how to stay out of harm's way. Anyone showing up expecting to be handed a weapon is going to be disappointed. Or I hope they will be if they don't have training in weapons handling. Evacuation and suit drills might make more sense? That seems like a spaceship thing to do.

there does not seem to be much sense of emergency on the ship but what i heard sounded very urgent and in my experience it is always better to prepare for the worst

I can handle myself in a fight, but I have to wonder-- if we're going to be fighting, is there a way to arm ourselves? I have a blaster pistol but the vast majority of us are unarmed, I'm assuming.

i wouldnt know where to acquire weapons i have no need of them myself but it would be worth investigation as humans are not equipped with natural weapons
