Hello, out there! For those of you that aren't aware, my name is Dorian Pavus. For those of you that are— [ he smiles, oh so charmingly ] I'm positive it's lovely to see me again.

Introductions aside, I do have a motive for coming here today. I know some of us had a rather... [ and he's putting this so lightly ] unfortunate trip down to Oros and are still feeling the effects of it. Or, perhaps even unrelated ailments may be weighing you down. Whatever the case may be, I am here to offer my services.

[ Ahem. ]

Of a sort.

[ Leaning out of the frame for a moment, he comes back with a small try of a few potted plants and differently colored vials. ]

I've been doing a bit of additional research with the plants and such from Oros and those here aboard the ship. Some results have been... interesting. [ He taps the cork of a vial containing hot pink liquid in it. ] This one in particular was quite something.

[ Not that he's going to share what happened but suffice to say it was something new and interesting for him. ]

At any rate, my fellow travellers, I have a request among my offer. First, there are tonics available to those who need them for minor aches and pains, sleeping issues and so on. I'm a healer by no means but do know enough of it [ his hand lifts and a tendril of blue green mist curls around his finger before disappearing into sparks ] to get by.

Secondly! And perhaps a little more importantly, these. [ A gesture to the things in front of him again. ] Some are untested and I'm not positive what they'll do, so, I wanted to cast my net a little wider and see if there were any fellow researchers or those of that ilk to try some of these tonics and plants to... [ he trails off then just shrugs with another easy smile ] Well, just see what they do. If you've any interest at all, do be in touch!

I don't have any open wounds. [ She's not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.... ]

But I do have a healing rune right now. I may have to wait until that fades...

Oh, I assure you, my query was meant only to know where to begin. Healing is not the way to go, in this particular case!

[ Which, is likely a good thing. ]

However, I must admit you've piqued my interest in regards to whatever this healing rune is. Could you tell me more?

I just thought I might tell you about the rune, in case it interferes with anything.

I'm a Shadowhunter, so we like to draw shapes on our bodies for added bonuses. One of my runes is meant to help speed up my healing. It's not instant, but it helps. Especially against poisons.

[ It's interesting, certainly. Mages use a form of runes in their magic back home, but this is something altogether different. Admittedly, he's entirely fascinated. ]

I'm afraid I've not heard of a Shadowhunter before. I assume it isn't a term taken literally. [ Because that would be just silly. ] How is it you draw the runes on yourself?

[angele]

[ Oh duh.... why did she just assume people would know that? She's spent too long among other Shadowhunters. ]

Not exactly literally. We hunt demons in my world. Sorry, sometimes I forget not everyone knows these things. Even though I didn't until a few months ago myself, anyway.

We use something called a stele. I don't know too much about it yet, but it only works for us. Then we activate it, and it kinda burns the rune into our skin. After the rune lasts awhile. Some can last forever, some for a pretty long time, and some disappear pretty fast. [ Somewhere Jace's ears are burning at all the secrets she's giving up.... ]

[ Maybe it shouldn't be so heartening to hear other places deal with demons, too, but it kind of is. It gives him a sense of something normal. ]

Is there any particular reason for the time disparity between the runes and why some last and some do not?

[ Tell him all your secrets, Clary!!! He will try to help figure some out!! ]

[ It's a little scary when fighting demons is your new normal... ]

I think it just depends on the type of ability you're trying to use. You don't want to be on fire forever, after all.

As for differences between the ones that last a long time and forever... I'm not completely certain about those details. Most of the ones that are permanent tend to be bonding ones, though. Like for marriage or parabatais, which are when two people are so close they're pretty much two halves of a whole and work in sync together.

I see. So you are able to set yourself physically on fire and be protected by the rune itself?

Do you have a stele here with you? I must admit I'd rather like to see your runes in action.

Usually just parts of ourselves. Typically I've seen it hands.

I have mine, yes. It would have been bad if I hadn't.

I don't mind showing you sometime.
