[ The feed turns on and there's a smiling face pictured on the screen. While Dorian might not be the most comfortable with all this technology, he's faking it until he makes it. That's the only way he knows how. ]
Hello, out there! For those of you that aren't aware, my name is Dorian Pavus. For those of you that are— [ he smiles, oh so charmingly ] I'm positive it's lovely to see me again.
Introductions aside, I do have a motive for coming here today. I know some of us had a rather... [ and he's putting this so lightly ] unfortunate trip down to Oros and are still feeling the effects of it. Or, perhaps even unrelated ailments may be weighing you down. Whatever the case may be, I am here to offer my services.
[ Ahem. ]
Of a sort.
[ Leaning out of the frame for a moment, he comes back with a small try of a few potted plants and differently colored vials. ]
I've been doing a bit of additional research with the plants and such from Oros and those here aboard the ship. Some results have been... interesting. [ He taps the cork of a vial containing hot pink liquid in it. ] This one in particular was quite something.
[ Not that he's going to share what happened but suffice to say it was something new and interesting for him. ]
At any rate, my fellow travellers, I have a request among my offer. First, there are tonics available to those who need them for minor aches and pains, sleeping issues and so on. I'm a healer by no means but do know enough of it [ his hand lifts and a tendril of blue green mist curls around his finger before disappearing into sparks ] to get by.
Secondly! And perhaps a little more importantly, these. [ A gesture to the things in front of him again. ] Some are untested and I'm not positive what they'll do, so, I wanted to cast my net a little wider and see if there were any fellow researchers or those of that ilk to try some of these tonics and plants to... [ he trails off then just shrugs with another easy smile ] Well, just see what they do. If you've any interest at all, do be in touch!

[ Jace accepts the correction with a nod of his head, though really he's just filing that word away beside 'warlock'. It seems to amount to the same thing.
Then he listens, and kind of wishes he hadn't. Coming here has been one frustration after another, but that all pales in the face of an entire planet dying right beneath their feet. ]
The entire planet was destroyed in one strike?
[ That's massive. He's genuinely horrified. ]
Are you saying the thing you guys had to retrieve is what triggered this, or that it was something else? Something outside the fleet?

I'm afraid those are questions to which I cannot offer a well-informed reply. This excursion was the first I've heard of such a thing as nuclear weaponry, so I am... not entirely positive if it was one or several.
[ Because he just doesn't really get how damaging even just one can be. ]
Honestly, I certainly hope the reason the other teams were sent down there aren't the cause of what happened. That would very much change... well, it would change everything, I imagine.
no subject
[ That wouldn't be surprising. This whole place is full of technology better than what Jace knows. They're on an actual spaceship. It's obvious the rules are different here. ]
What did the ship's officers have to say about this? Someone must know what happened.
no subject
Oh, I imagine their reaction was about as you would expect. A lot of questioning what happened and shifting the blame elsewhere. No one can really give a direct response as to what exactly happened on Oros.
no subject
[ No. That's not good enough. They sent their people down there, put them directly in harm's way. Hell, what they did may even have contributed to what happened. Wherever this ship is flying now, it's in the wrong direction. ]
We should be investigating. You said there were refugees on this ship? Then they deserve answers, closure. Why aren't we acting?
no subject
It's a bit... difficult. Have you seen the information about Oros at all? [ He knows there's some everyone can get via the communicators, but doesn't know who has read what. ] The Trilk and Fek were involved in war between themselves.
[ He pauses for only a brief moment, then; ]
Not to mention they don't particularly speak a language many can even understand. We are just now being given ways to communicate with them. I cannot claim no one is acting, as I do not know every last person aboard this ship. However, currently, as things are... What is it you believe can be done?
[ And he's asking genuinely. ]
no subject
[ Which absolutely won't stop him from leaping into the thick of things, obviously. Jace is used to taking action.
And he'll admit language barriers can be a problem, but... ]
I may have a way around the language issue. And I guess what can be done depends on what happened. Do we have both Trilk and Fek on board right now?
no subject
[ He gestures toward the little communicator. ]
There are files in there about what the planet was like and recaps from those of us who were there for a time. It includes photos of what both species look like—though, I doubt in walking around you wouldn't notice them as neither are small. I believe there are some working on bridging the gap of communication, so if you truly can help with that, I would definitely urge you in offering whatever services you can.
no subject
[ Maybe. There's always the chance it wouldn't work on alien languages. Jace has never actually tried, for obvious reasons. But there's one way to find out. ]
I'll see what I can do, and thanks for the heads up. Sounds like you got more than you bargained for.
no subject
[ He tips his head and offers a warm sort of smile. ]
But, you are quite welcome! Do let me know if I can be of further assistance.
[ Because this all sounds like just more research about other worlds' magic and he is All About That. ]
no subject
I appreciate it. I wouldn’t mind talking to you about your world’s mages some time.
[ If that’s a reasonable request. Jace isn’t all that used to not being in the know. It’s obvious he has work to do here. ]
I’m a Shadowhunter. I don’t know if that means anything to you.
no subject
[ Because, let's face facts: Dorian likes talking. He especially loves talking about magic. ( And himself, but. Those go hand in hand. )
Anyway, there's a slight pause and he taps his chin. ]
You know... [ it's drawled, almost, like he's thinking, ] it hadn't meant anything. But someone else mentioned it to me very recently. So, it doesn't quite mean much to me, I'm afraid, I am aware of what it means now, at any rate!
