[ Although the image is mostly Wash's face, there's enough background in the shot to make it clear that he's standing in one of the Eluvio's corridors. There's a door behind him and just off to the left is a sign that reads: SIMSPACE. Once the feed's going, he jerks his thumb back toward the door. ]

If I don't come out of here in like a day, send someone in to get me.

[ He pauses, making a slightly exasperated, slightly apologetic face. ]

And hey, if using this thing unleashes some kind of virtual reality nightmare on everybody, sorry. [ Does that require a little clarification? Maybe it requires some clarification. ] I've seen the old movies. I know how this shit goes.

[ Agent Washington. Always a pessimist. He offers a faint, tiny smile. ]

Otherwise, if anybody wants to visit one of the beaches on my homeworld, come on down. I can give you the grand tour.

What are you running? Some kind of beach?

[ He's not sure he wants to see a holographic beach, but it's not like he's doing anything else right now. ]

Yeah. From my homeworld. It's been a long time since I saw it.

[ And it's gone now, so this is as close as he'll ever get to seeing it again. ]

Alright, sure. I'll come on down. I'll ping you if I get lost.

[ Which is totally possible on this ship. ]

[ About ten minutes later Luke finally finds the holo-things and manages to find the right one. He pokes his head in and is instantly blown away. ]

Hey - Whoa.

[ That's pretty damn realistic. ]

[sixth]

[ Wash is inside when he gets there, sitting down on a beach. The sand's so white it could easily be mistaken as snow and the water's a peculiar shade of blue. The air's mild, not too hot and not too cold, and trees with fragrant flowers sway in the gentle breeze. The only sounds are the surf and the birds in the trees and along the shoreline.

He looks over at the sound of Luke's voice and smiles a tiny, lopsided smile. ]

Yeah, it's something, isn't it? This kind of tech isn't available at home.

[ Luke's seen a lot of planets since he left Tatooine. The sheer amount of blue and green on so many other planets still blows him away sometimes, though. Like this beach. Even if he knows it's just a hologram, it's still mindboggling. He takes a few steps "down" the beach and shades his eyes with a hand. ]

...I can't believe this is all just a trick of the light.

[ He glances at Washington with a shake of his head. ]

It looks and feels so real.

Tell me about it.

[ Reaching down, he scoops up a handful of the sand and watches it as it filters down between his fingers. It feels like the real sand from home. Hell, it even smells like it. ]

But if you turn the program off, it's all gone. [ He snaps his fingers. ] Just like that.

[ Brushing off his hand, Wash looks up at him. ]

We had simulators where I'm from. And holographic displays. Some of them were pretty lifelike, but this is lightyears beyond that.

[ Sand. Luke's used to sand, but this is different from the coarse sand that the winds off of the Dune Sea would bring swirling around the compound and pile up in drifts against the wall. Drifts that he'd had to clear eventually. He falls into a squat next to Wash and runs his hand through it experimentally.

It feels as real as the stuff from back home. ]

I've never seen anything like it. Holograms don't have any kind of mass. Even if they look real, they shouldn't feel real-

[ He glances up at the crashing surf curiously. ]

Does that stuff make you actually wet?
