Others have been mentioning dates of birth and so I was wondering: what do your people do in order to celebrate the day someone is born, or named, or comes into their own?

Also, how do your people celebrate the lives that have ended?

It's complicated. Due to the nuclear material in our atmosphere that blighted the planet outside, people within the domes are not fertile and cannot carry children to term. In the interest of carrying on humanity as we knew it, our doctors and scientists began to grow children a bionic womb system.. And yes, it's as unnerving to look at as it sounds.

There are very few children. Families go through years long processes and forms to even be considered for a new child to make sure it will be raised properly, on and on. Most end up with child-like autoreivs until they are chosen to.. fill the gap, so to speak. I think the only one who didn't have any trouble was my grandfather, but being Regent has it's perks.

McCoy saw to it and it's fine. Mainly, it's a damn annoyance learning how to operate with one arm for a bit longer.

They are a lot like K2, if slightly more advanced. Companion types are made to look as human as possible, while Entourage and Knight types forgo a human appearance to be an assistant more than a companion. Though I suppose over time, no matter what type, your autoreiv becomes more of a companion than an assistant. My entourage Iggy helped with my career but also was my closest companion.

A few weeks, probably. Not entirely sure considering the way McCoy treated it and the way I've had all my other injuries over the years treated are very different.

Well, naturally, autoreiv children don't really prepare anyone for the demands of an infant with diaper changes and the like. We have a companion type that travels with us, in my world, and her mental age is only about 4 with the Touring application activated.

Iggy, I think, was my first friend as a child. I've had him since I can remember.

No, not considering the damage. I'll take it over no arm at all.

Sounds alike to Iggy and I. But still, even his ears belonged to my grandfather until Daedalus did away with that. We weren't on very good terms toward the end, if only because of that. You can't trust information to a friend whose ears are also the security structures, even if they don't understand why.

If only him getting cogito hadn't changed his personality so drastically.

I always knew that Iggy's ears reported back to the security structure, just like his visual processors and the rest - but when his memory was being erased to make me look crazy and my grandfather was trying to prompt me away from my truth finding via my entourage? I had to make some informed decisions, as bad as that seems.

Cogito was termed a 'virus.' It made autoreivs feel as though they had a soul - a part I still do not believe - and gave them free thought and volition. 'Cogito Ergo Sum' in action, if you will. I think, therefore I am.

Some autoreivs reacted to it peacefully and are learning emotions, etc, like Pino. Others... became violent and started doing away with humans. In the end you can imagine the chaos, I'm sure.

Yes. It's unfortunate, though, because I do really enjoy having discussions with Kristeeva and figuring out her line of thought.

... Other than the fact that her processors hold much more information than a human brain could probably ever manage but that's a simple logistics problem.

Kristeeva is not that old - however as the entourage of the Director-General of the Citizen Security Bureau, she was connected to all of the main frames and information at hand in the city.

The funny part is that I thought I had dug deeply in to the workings of the city, but I'd only scratched the surface from what I've been told.

It will certainly take a lot of time to sift through.. but I'm interested in learning everything I hadn't known before. She is more willing to give information away now, obviously, without Raul breathing down her neck. So i figure why not take advantage of that while I can.

More information about.. almost everything, really. I'm coming to realize that I actually knew very little about the place that I called home for all nineteen years of my life and now that I can learn about it, I might as well.

I'm always hungry for the truth, even if it's not the happy or wanted truth.

There's not much to do with it, really. Other than to make sure whatever is rebuilt on Earth is not the same.

Let's see what these people dropping back to Earth are even like before coming up with any grand schemes.... After all, they could be worse.

I doubt it, but there is always a chance.

Secrets can be the best and worst things, depending on the situation.

Still, it's good to know there are people aboard who have dealt in the same situations.
