audio | un: carolina | team locked to alpha + beta
Alright, everybody, listen up! Beta's on their way out and we need to move.
Alpha, I need you all to wreck what you can. Make it loud, make it messy, try not to kill any teammates in the process. [ which is to say, if you're going to blow up anything (and she really hope you will) make sure none of your friends are nearby. ] Beta, I don't care which one of you has the relic, but if you clump together and the Trilk get it back, mission failure's all on you. Everyone's running decoy and distraction here. We need it. We'll rendezvous in the shaded valley due south and if you're not there in half an hour, we're leaving you.
[ unless it's the poor sap with the relic, or someone manages to coax a few more minutes of sympathy into her. her voice doesn't give much room for it right now, but she just wants to get everyone moving to safety asap. ]
Got it? Thirty minutes starting now. Sync.
( ooc: take place immediately after this is successful. tagging free for all, threadjack away unless someone marks a private thread. )

carolina raises the gun, resting it against her shoulder as she tilts her head to do a visual check on their immediate surroundings. a few fek are on the way, but they don't have long distance weapons. they've got a few seconds, long enough for carolina to look back to sombra and jerk her head that way. ]
You want to handle those with me?

(the easiest and quickest reply, eyeing the feks with a roll of her shoulders. time to get busy... or busier. they've already taken down one squad, so another shouldn't be so bad.)
If you always ask for things like that, people might be more inclined to listen to ya.
(a pluck of a device from her hip, turning into an almost lazy throw far over the heads of the confused aliens. and she offers her team leader a wink before disappearing. only to reappear immediately in a flash of pink light, gun lowered to aim at a couple of helmeted skulls β no way they're getting out of this one, the feks squawking their surprise before her machine pistol flares.)

- which is to say that the plasma shots do some of the work, but carolina also winds up sending a fek to sombra's feet with a hard kick. a gift for her to finish off, naturally. it's how she integrates people into her fights, accepts them as her team, even if only for now. not that she's going to say that, of course. ]
Have that one.
[ maybe it's just easier for carolina not to bother shooting that particular alien. yeah, right. ]

a loping trilk, larger than the fek she downed, clicks whatever constitutes a tongue, that colourful blood spattering impressive armour β and sombra wishes they didn't have to kill it. if everything could just run smoothly without too much death, the mission would be considered more of a success for her.
but with a lift of a brow at carolina, leaning forward into a run to her side, she's avoiding its swing of a hard light energy shield with a duck,) I don't think it likes us very much, hahaha!

[ so she reacts: a plasma shot to the ground to stir up dirt. clunky debris near one foot to kick up between the trilk and its shield to trip it up. a dart forward with a kick that spins her on one foot to catch the creature in the side while it's already off guard.
it lands on one side and carolina has her gun pointed at it again but first- ] Sombra! The shield.

(it's latched onto with pink threads, sombra's arm thrown out in the beast's direction, mere moments after she speaks. it's easy to move with someone who knows what they're doing, feeling a familiar vibe with reaper when they're taking enemies down back-to-back, an honest-to-god team when it really comes down to it.
a sprint forward to keep contact with it when it bellows angrily, pushing her limits with a sharp breath and a narrowing of an eye. repeated use is giving her a killer migraine, but that all comes with the territory.
the hard-light shield flickers, glitches hard when a purple skull springs up before it like a shield of its own, and dies after being commandeered in seconds.)
Tear it up, CapitΓ‘n!

the thing doesn't move again, so she turns back to sombra with an upward nod of her head. ]
I have no idea how that works, but thank you.

(a short jaunt over, huffing and puffing. she's in impeccable shape, but sometimes you eat one too many doritos and throw off your whole regime.)
Those were some pre-tty nice moves, you wanna tell me more about your training?
no subject
Started off with humanity's unified military training, then I wound up getting recruited into an experimental program. Our director trained us hard, but it always paid off in combat. Wash and Maine were my teammates there; it's why they're almost as good as I am.
[ but with slightly less ego, too. ]

Look at you, a decorated veteran. I trained with Red Bull and a family-sized bag of Doritos. (not much in the way of military training, but she adds her own flare to what she can keep up with β she's well aware her main skill lies well-protected inside her head.)
You've got a cute family, here. Washington and Maine are pretty interesting... Especially that Maine, I don't think he likes me.
no subject
Maine is... He's been through a lot. [ said casually, as if the three of them aren't walking mounds of heavily armoured ptsd. ] And he's never taken well to new teammates, so don't take it personally. Wash is the only one he really likes.
