There's quite a few of us who are new arrivals, yeah? I'm told we should make ourselves comfortable and get to know our neighbors. It's been eight months since I last really moved anywhere, so hello! My name is Victor Nikiforov. If any one of you feels like discussing our new location or occupations or anything else, please join me for a drink!
[ He even includes a ping for the bar he's at. Conversations up to this point have been anything but promising. So here he is. In space. Surrounded by space people. Talking to other "we did not want to end up in space, probably" people. ]
Also, three questions! Who is fond of dogs, is there anything like Instagram on these, and who knows anything about figure skating?

Russian figure skater Victor Nikiforov ... An interesting choice for a space program

And to think, there's not even a rink anywhere in sight.
( tragedy. though what else he writes is a nod to absolutely everything he's encountered here so far: )
You'd think the qualification process would be more strenuous.

honestly, sombra can see why they'd choose her specifically. she's a genius in her field; she can hack anything she literally puts her mind to and siphon information in seconds. that's perfect for reconnaissance, spy work, double agent bullshit, anything they can possibly dream up. yet they made her a reporter for a gossip mag.)
You'll have to start a petition, amigo, skating is probably a foreign concept to aliens -
Water is a precious element not found often in most systems

It's such a strange idea when I'm used to drowning in snow every winter. Thinking of systems without ice at the least, like that planet. Mars? Is very strange.
The petition sounds like a good start. Thank you for the idea!

Forward me a copy and I'll sign it :)

( Says the ice skater. )
I will! Anyway, does the Gregorian calendar mean anything to you? I've already been learning that what I could call my time won't really make sense to someone from a time that doesn't even recognise our calendar system.

( maybe. who knows. it's like all of the last five years blended together, we'll roll with 2016/2017. )

I think we'll be seeing a lot more fancy tech than what we have, though ... I'm ready to borrow whatever info I can about the stuff
("""""BORROW""""")

( his inner five year old is excited at this possibility okay, it's a staple in most any space movie )

Looks like something from Star Wars ...

( walking everywhere has been a coping mechanism when he knows he's failed someone he loves by not being there for them when it was his one job
instead he's on space vacation, joy )
Maybe I will after another round or two! Or go tomorrow, when I'm up again.

i............................ walks out
Because I really do want to see what the cockpits on those things look like, are they super science fiction? Are they like airplanes? I want to know!
looks at the camera
(she is cracking her shit up)
we are now on the office, in space
( because yes he entirely would drag Yuri along for this and trust he's covered that way BUT ALAS )
you are exactly right, we just have to get these aliens to buy our paper products
You wish they were here?
no problem i'm sure we've got this covered (burn all the other businesses last one standing wins)
But he isn't, and I don't wish him to be taken away from his life or his family or his home. Instead I'll believe that he's managed to carry himself through the competition we were at on the strength of his love. He's a mesmerizing skater! It's next to impossible to look away when Yuri's on the ice. I choose to believe that he's made the podium by now, in spite of me having managed to get myself kidnapped by a spaceship engine instead of being there at his side.
VICTOR STARTED THE FIYAHHH
I'm sure he'll accept that kind of wild excuse. If not I'll write you a doctor's note ;)
IT WAS ALWAYS BURNING
Hah! Would you happen to have a doctorate in Mad Science?
it's gotta be the eros
