How many people here are familiar with magic? And has anyone found a way to make it stop breaking technology? [There seem to be some, but it's probably best to ask, rather than encounter them at random. And perhaps one of them has worked out a way to deal

Has anyone here encountered Dead creatures or necromancers, either in this place, or wherever you come from? Are any of you familiar with the Charter, or the Old Kingdom?

Dorian? Maker, no. He is an accomplished warrior and powerful mage, but I cannot imagine him ever harming an innocent person.

That may be, but in my experience, most forms of necromancy are inherently corrupting.

In what manner are they corrupting?

[bindsthedead]

The powers they draw upon are inimical to life. Over time, it degrades the bodies and warps the spirits of the users. Eventually, they stop caring about anything other than satisfying their desires by whatever means necessary, regardless of the price.

Do they take anything to augment their abilities? Some form of liquid, perchance?

[bindsthedead]

Not liquid, no. Some of them capture and imprison spirits within their flesh, even though that accelerates the degradation.

And the spirits are generally just as unpleasant as the sorcerers.

Abominations. We have them in Thedas too. It was once my duty to slay them.

[bindsthedead]

It is mine as well. Abhorsen's duty is to lay the Dead to rest, deal with necromancer and other such sorcerers, and bind Free magic spirits.

Abhorsen is what your people call those who deal with such matters? In mine, those individuals are called templars.

There is only one Abhorsen at a time- the title and powers are passed through my family.

But many others also fight the Dead and the other forces that threaten our land.
